I can not say enough good things about Krav Maga Regina Inc. Richard Kim is a passionate and incredible instructor, and he was the first certified instructor in Canada! He is an expert level instructor in Krav Maga (in addition to being a 4th degree back belt in Tae Kwon Do). He absolutely knows his stuff and is who you want to go to if you are interested in learning Krav Maga in Regina. I am always impressed with his perfectly executed lessons and the progress I see everyone around me making. After my first class, I was completely hooked. It was the best workout ever, and I felt strong and empowered. I was instantly comfortable in the unassuming studio. Richard Kim is patient, funny, and very knowledgeable about martial arts. Armando and Justin, who work there, are also both grèat, and help Richard Kim to ensure the students are using proper technique and giving it their all. I am 5 months in and can't imagine ever stopping. I am so much stronger than I was before, and my cardio has improved immensely. I feel amazing when I leave class, and I am always excited for the next one. He does a 1 day trial class approximately monthly, so you don't have to commit before trying it out for yourself. Go once, and I can almost guarantee you'll pay for the 4-week beginner course. It's a blast and a great way to get aggressive in a safe and comfortable environment. Keep up the amazing work, Richard Kim - Krav Maga has improved my life in so many ways.

Amazing course. Richard and all of the instructors do a great job of making this a safe, fun, and friendly environment where you can learn and grow with others at your same experience level. I would highly recommend Krav Maga Regina to anyone looking t
o learn self defense training or just looking for a solid workout. 10 out of 10 experience!!!

An Honest Blunt Assessment: This is a smattering of a few combat techniques, mish mashed into an aerobics class and DEMONSTRATED by a taekwondo guy who wants to distance himself from taekwondo. While I’m all for stepping outside of the family tradition to be original, the biggest issue here (and there are issues) is simple: This is a person who is passionate about Krav and loves to demonstrate it but doesn’t actually teach. Richard is an excellent spokesperson, and after watching him on tv, I think lots of people would want to sign up because he’s so enthusiastic, that sells! But… There’s more to running a school than demonstrating, and the result here is poor retention of students. Now, on a side note, this combat training method historically was designed to be taught to military personnel in a short time frame. As such, the method for training instructors is also hasty - high ranking students do not spend years assisting with training new students alongside a master, whilst growing their own skills, as is the case with the majority of traditional martial arts. Therefore it may be something of a vicious circle that instructors are churned out without having the opportunity to develop teaching skills. Secondly, so as to be a financially viable business (because this is not just about training military) Krav schools have to spread out the techniques over years, making Krav Maga lose its main purpose, which is, to be blunt, to be McSelf-Defence. This could be achieved by adding other skills that help with balance and flexibility, such as in Systema (a similar combat training system developed in Russia) but instead the classes at Krav Regina are more like the LA aerobics fad Tae Bo where self defence takes a back seat to cardio and actual techniques are few and far beyond. To give an analogy: This is sort of like getting 4 identical copies of the Coles Notes digest of Lord of the Flies and reading all 4 of them - you only get the one limited set of abridged info but it still takes as long and costs as much or more than reading the full unabridged original - at best you could say you became a faster reader but it’s still a justification. So, sure, cardio is great but a squash player can run away from a mugger just as fast as an intermediate Krav practitioner and they’re both pretty ill equipped for a weapon assault compared to a student of a traditional martial art that has been doing it for the same amount of time. So, again, to be brutally honest, after a year of this I guarantee that, if an assailant allows you to do so, you will be able to kick them in the groin fifty times in 30 seconds - but don’t expect to be able to do all those cool things you saw on the internet. It is also unlikely you will remember, in the heat of a real life situation, any technique to which you were only given a few minutes to practice after watching it once or twice. It is more likely that your ever shrinking class will be disbanded after your classmates drop out one by one. Perhaps they have left because they are not learning how to look as cool as the instructor after seeing him do a technique once or twice. Perhaps they have got a taste for martial arts and want to master one skill set rather than be mediocre in 6 or 7. If so, they have likely joined a club that specializes in something they connect with and now they learn from a someone who loves to teach, as much as they love to practice it themselves, and will give all their students the patience and dedication they need to develop their skills.

Richard and the other instructors go out of their way to make an often awkward environment be comfortable, competitive and fun for all ages and fitness levels. Awesome place to train and learn self defense and gain confidence in yourself and your power. One of the best workouts I've ever participated in.

I'm highly impressed with Richard and his gym. My family has been training with him for years and I have never taken the plunge. With me being heavy and past injuries from the previous year - I was hesitant. The day of my class I was thinking multiple ways to bail, especially when working with your body all day and it is inflamed and sore to begin with...without a workout. I stuck it out and I noticed with in minutes that it's a comfortable, judgement free place. I never felt pushed outside my physical limits that puts my previous injuries at risk but still threw down a good educational workout. I'm writing this the day after sore, but grateful. This gym cares about educating women on intense self defense for the real world. I see why my mother and sisters keep going back. The training is worth the time and money. I suggest you check out a class yourself and see what it's all about.

Awesome class! Richard is a fantastic instructor and makes an effort to ensure everyone is working at a level that is comfortable for them. He does a great job including real life stories in the class to provide examples of practical applications of what you're learning. Amazing workout too!

I just finished this 4 week course and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! - my absolute favourite thing I have done in foreverrrrr.
The instructor, Richard, is beyond phenomenal and
I feel substantially more confident in my ability to defend myself (if ever needed… god forbid) after 4 weeks in this class than I ever did in my decade of TaekwonDo (in which I had a black belt and competed at a national level).
It’s a super welcoming environment, GREAT exercise, and you’ll walk away feeling pretty badass (or at least I did ?)

Just finished the four week women’s self defense class and immediately signed up for more because a) this is super useful stuff for any woman to know, and b) that was the best workout ever. This was money very well spent, and I felt like it was an investment in my confidence and safety. Richard teaches this class so well— he starts with the most basic moves and slowly builds them up until suddenly you realize you could probably take someone down. He’s super encouraging and clear, and he gets you to push yourself while not making you feel bad if you need a breather. Armando is awesome and so helpful too! It’s fun to go with a friend or three (you’ll be split into pairs), or it’s totally cool to go solo and immediately bond with a stranger. 🙂 And mothers… take your daughters!
If you’re hesitant to go because you’re feeling intimidated by the workout or the intensity of krav maga, don’t let that stop you. Three minutes in and you’ll be sweating, laughing, and feeling empowered. Plus it turns out that punching things is a really great stress reliever!!
