I currently train at the Bushido Ryu Dojo. It’s been a little over a year. I try to go twice a week. If I were to guess the ages range from 17-65 years old. Most of us came with no martial arts experience whatsoever. I am currently a purple belt. Both men and women train together and come from all walks of life. In class, we are grouped with students at the same level so not to ever feel out of place. Sensei is insanely skilled and teaches with a no-nonsense yet kind approach. His philosophy is in turn emulated by the students. You will never be made to feel like an outsider. The higher-level students are approachable and are ALWAYS ready to help and give instruction to the lower-level students. You never feel lost. I must admit though that the first class was a bit humbling. Whatever I thought I knew went out the window when I walked through the door. Today I feel confident that I can take some of the skills I have learned and use them in an adverse situation. If you are looking to develop real life self-defense skills in a positive and supportive environment, come and try a class. I am really happy that I did.

Writing this review after spending a good 6 months in this dojo.

I came to this place after trying a few classes in other martial art schools around FLL area and I would recommend this place for anyone from skill level 0 to 100. Sensei is very knowledgeable and always there for you to make sure you are learning the right technique. I have seen People all ages thriving in this Dojo. I have seen a 14-year-old train here and also, a 68-year-old. They all receive the right attention.

I have seen women too getting the right training and they end up being very confident about using their skills in real life. Infact, I seen them thriving and loving it.

The Dojo brotherhood and the higher belts are great people who are very generous to teach you everything they know. The black belts especially are some of the most skillful and amazing people I have met.

This school teaches you the real fighting skills and not the unrealistic fancy things you watch in movies. Personally, I now know how to handle many real-life scenarios with confidence.

Joining this particular dojo has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Sensai Gerry is amazing! His martial arts & teaching skills are impeccable. In addition, he exemplifies compassion, kindness, & humility. Plus, he is really funny. In addition to this, I have made leaps and bounds since walking through the door. I have developed a set of self defense skills and I am completely confident that I can defend myself if I were ever attacked. The other great thing is that I have made some great friends here. These are people I really respect. Overall, there is real personal transformation taking place. As time goes on you can really see your advancement in martial arts at this dojo. I have brought my roommate with me and she loves it. I am definitely loyal to this dojo alone. I recommend this place to everyone.

The Best Self Defense Martial Arts School in South Florida. While most academies teach sport martial arts, this school prepares you for real life situations, street combat, hand to hand fighting, defense against sticks, knives, guns, even multiple attackers. While the school is great for everyone, not everyone is allowed to train here. The Sensei interviews you, gives you a booklet of the material that you're expected to learn, along with required books that you are required to read as you advance in rank, and it lists the moves and techniques that you should be learning in your belt rank. If you agree to the terms, and he feels that you are a good candidate, you honored with a white belt to begin your journey as a martial artist. War Arts School , trained with them for a year really solid friendly group of people, Sensei Gerry very knowledgeable and really breaks things down simply.

NOTE This is not a Karate Dojo like what you normally find for sport training, this is an adults only War school that trains you for dealing with real world situations, how to defend yourself with maximum effectiveness.

Highly recommend for those that are looking to learn to actually fight and defend yourself in a street fight and other scenarios.

When the teacher says that in this school they do things that the other academies don't do he means that he would talk to his opponet " please dont hurt me" and the hi hits you in the groin or balls while listening to him.
You won't sweat on his class. Its just self defense that wont work in real life. If you want to feel part of a martial arts group thats does not require any effort or skills this is your academy and belts are given depending on how much time you have in the school. I went there llong time when I was a white belt and I submited him easily.

You’ve cultivated a brotherhood experienced for me for that short amount of time I was training with you, even though I was new and had zero martial arts experience… Nothing like the kung-fu movies, just real and to- the point Martial Arts! I cannot wait to get back in class and start training again, if it wasn’t for my career and constant traveling you know I’d be there every day sir OSU!! ?

I highly recommend this dojo, no doubt the best dojo you can possibly find in South Florida.

For years I would drive by Bushido Knights Rue wondering what was going on in that all adult school as I rushed home from TaeKwonDo class to shower and get to my third shift job.
Finally I was passing by on a night off and decided to check it out.
Sensei Knapton greeted me cordially and asked about my experience in martial arts, among other things I said I was 2nd Dan with my own school. I finished by explaining I'd become bored doing the same old thing and I asked for permission to watch and steal some of his secrets to teach my students.
Instead he invited me onto the mat, "better to learn by doing so I could teach it correctly" he said. I was paired with students mid to high rank all whose skill were equal or superior to my own. By the end of the class I decided that one night wasn't enough so I joined the class and have been a student with Sensei Knapton’s for about 5 years.
Sensei has a curriculum that crosses many styles including grappling, locks, submissions, breaks, upright fighting, elements of Kali and Wing Chun and more all taught in a friendly and calm atmosphere that makes learning easy and stress free. Not to be overlooked is the camaraderie of like minded brothers and sisters and I have so much fun there I rarely let anything interfere with my dojo schedule.
My one regret I have is that work has taken me far from Dania Beach and I am not currently able to attend classes. I am looking forward to resuming my training when I return.
