I ordered the #1 Bun Bo Hue, and it came out in about 5 minutes. I've been here a few times over the past decade. Their broth can vary slightly from time to time, but overall, I think this is one of the best spots in the Bay Area for Bun Bo Hue. While the prices have gone up over the years, the portion sizes are still massive and packed with meat.

The soup had a light lemongrass flavor, it wasn’t too spicy or salty. The meat was good, but this time around some of them weren't as tender as I expected it to be. They also provide a side of fresh veggies, shrimp paste, and sate (Vietnamese chili sauce). I added all the veggies to my soup while it was hot to soften them slightly. For a more savory flavor, I added a bit more shrimp paste. Just be careful not to add too much, as it can overpower the dish. Season to taste, add a bit and give it time for the flavors to kick in before adding more if needed. The same for the sate, I added more to give my soup an extra kick of spiciness.

TLDR: just eat the bun bo hue! So good!

It’s named that for a reason and they don’t go making a huge menu for all different tastes, there’s bun Bo hue and pho and that’s it! It’s because they are good at what they do and you should trust the chef. The soup noodles have a great flavor and tastes like a soup that’s been boiled for a long time. The meat is just right and the noodles were perfect consistency.

Không phải bún bò Huế mà là bún bò Mexico, thịt được thái lát dày và to như một khối thịt nhỏ, trông thô tục và phải dùng kéo cắt thành từng miếng nhỏ trước khi ăn.
Not Hue but Mexican beef noodle soup, the meat is sliced thick and big like a small block of meat, looks lousy and has to be cut into small pieces with scissors before eating

We tried this place for the first time for dinner this evening and was pretty good. They specialize in Bun Bo Hue noodle soup hence their restaurant’s name.

I’ve been coming to Bún Bò Huế A Nan for the last 8 years, and it remains one of my favorite spots! The bún bò huế here is always consistently delicious. rich, flavorful broth with the perfect balance of spices. The quality has never changed, and it’s a go-to place for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese food. Highly recommend! The best in San Jose for now

It’s good! First time I’ve had bbh, so I’m not used to it, but I would try it again. It has pig blood which is not something I’m used to, but it doesn’t have a strong flavor, so it’s very tasty.

The noodles are thicker than pho noods, but are fresh and kinda reminiscent of udon; so if you’re unadventurous like me, def worth a try.

We visited Bun Bo Hue An Nam for Saturday lunch and got seated immediately as a party of two. I ordered the #7 House Special Beef Noodle, which comes with filet mignon, round steak, flank, brisket, tripe, tendon, and beef meatball.

The dish was excellent. The noodles had a great texture, and the soup base was light and clear but flavorful with the addition of leafy greens.

Another great recommendation from a friend. There are so many Vietnamese places to eat out here that I feel like you can't go wrong. The BBH here is better than most of the places back home for me. The flavor of the broth is great, and the quantity is also generous (maybe twice as much as what I'm used to). I also ordered a side of meat, not knowing how much protein was in the bowl. They have some fresh chili that you can add to make it spicier. One thing to remember that they only take cash or debit card (no credit cards).
