Boutique 25 - Skipton

Boutique 25 is located centrally but doesn't match their website/brochure images. They must have been taken a very long time ago. The room carpet was clean as were the towels, bed sheet and pillowcases. The shower was good. The rest of the room was very tired and dusty. The mattress wasn't clean and was very old.

The man who checked us in was polite, he didn’t mention the club... There is a club in the basement that parties until 1am. It was very loud, I phoned asking to change room but was told they won't change our room. They told me they are legally covered as their website states the club continues until 1am so I can't do anything about it legally. I only wanted a sleep, not confirmation about what they don't have to do according to the law.

It's not boutique and at £130 I feel it's far, far too expensive, if all the other Skipton hotels are full I'll sleep in the car next time.

Lovely old building but needed refurbishment in the room we stayed in. Very tired and needed TLC. Didn't sleep well. Very nice owner. But expected more from a hotel with boutique in the name

Very disappointed. Scruffy and unclean. Radiator hanging off the wall. Extremely loud nightclub in the basement, staff unhelpful and rude when asked for a room swap. Unfortunate, as the building is lovely and has a lot of potential.

When we arrived at the hotel, the first thing that I noticed was the white paint around the handle was filthy. We went into the main entrance which was shabby, with ripped wallpaper and frayed carpets. |The gentleman who met us was very nice initially, carried our bags up to the loft room which had 3 bedrooms. I was concerned straight away about the safety of the room as we had to go up quite a rickety spiral staircase to get there and there were only a couple of small velux windows in the room to escape from should there have been a fire. The rooms and the bathroom didn’t seem particularly clean, on one of the bedside tables, there was a stain from a previous cup of tea which hadn’t been wiped off. |When I checked the bedding, I noticed that there were no mattress protectors and the mattresses were filthy. The bedding was creased and clearly hadn’t been changed from the previous guest. This was the same with all the beds. |We showed this to the hotel owner who told us we were wrong, that the bedding was clean and then told us to ‘get out’|We asked him for our money back, upon which he advised us that he had not been paid from booking.com as yet and that we needed to phone them for the money back |To cut a long story short, he lied to us and had taken the money, when we tried to speak to him about it, he was shouting down the phone and was extremely offensive to my 82 year old mother in law.|We still haven’t got our money back and ended up staying at a travel lodge which was much nicer! We didn’t let it spoil our weekend but I would absolutely never stay there again, and I would advise everyone to stay away from this horrible place.

Our rooms were in the loft,very low ceilings,banged my head several times.Beds and bathroom very clean.None of the doors would shut properly,including the bathroom.Wi-fi worked.Plenty of tea and coffee.Plenty of fresh towels.No lift,access to room by a spiral staircase.Not suitable for anyone with disabilities.Probably would go again,but would definitely state not in the loft.
There is a bar in the cellar which is open till late.More like a nightclub at the weekend,with lots of youngsters milling about making a lot of noise,which we could hear even in the loft.
There is no parking at the property,but there are several car parks quite close which do not charge between 6pm and 9am.
Good location for Skipton and everything it offers.

Reviews have been quite negative but I found this B and B fine - yes the building is a bit worn around the edges but it is a very old building. Room pleasant and with all necessary facilities: bathroom great with large soft towels and excellent shower. No complaints whatsoever and will stay again.

Room was clean . Only one toilet roll which run out . Bed was one of the best IV slept on. Curtains had dust on them not good for an asthmatic but all in all a good room
